Cambro’s School Lunch Heroes

In honor of National School Lunch Hero Day, we wanted to take the time to recognize some of the heroes our local reps interact with regularly and admire for their dedication and support. School foodservice employees do the very important job of feeding our kids each day, some of which wouldn’t get a meal otherwise. If you’re a school lunch hero, thank you!

Shawn Rivera, Sacramento City Unified School District

Nominated by Courtney Meyer with Meyer Marketing

“Shawn is always looking for ways to improve the schools breakfast and lunch programs and food safety is one of her main priorities. She has a huge passion for feeding kids healthy meals and strongly believes that Cambro products support her needs when it comes to storage, transport, curbside, etc.”

Olivia Almeraz, Marisol Lopez, Vince Scimone, Ana Hernandez and Monica Campillo, Grossmont Union High School District

Nominated by Bill Aleksandrian with Dedicated Foodservice Solutions

“Good nutrition and learning go hand in hand. The Grossmont UHSD Nutrition Services department is made up of a team of food and nutrition professionals that are dedicated to students’ health, well-being and their ability to learn. This help support learning by promoting healthy habits for lifelong nutrition and fitness practices.  They do this with humility and passion and the care the students deserve and need to help them succeed.”

Allison Leavitt, Lisbon School Department

Nominated by Maine Department of Education and Matt Tetzner, who represents Cambro in New England

“Allison has gone above and beyond to provide her students with fresh and nutritious meals by partnering with local farms and businesses in the Lisbon community. She is an active participant of Maine’s Harvest of the Month Program, which highlights a different Maine product each month on the school menu.

You can find all of the wonderful things happening in Lisbon’s school nutrition program by following the “Lisbon Lunch Lady” on Facebook, where she keeps families informed and aware of fun events happening in the school cafeteria. In addition, Allison is the Education Committee Chair of the Maine School Nutrition Association, where she works to create educational and training opportunities for school nutrition staff across the state. Thank you, Allison, for your commitment to feeding the children in your community!”

Pam Haupt, Columbia Heights Public Schools

Nominated by Laurance Anderson, who represents Cambro in Minnesota and Dakotas

“Pam, like so many others, has been working tirelessly to ensure that all of her students are receiving meals that are both delicious and nutritious during these trying times involving supply chain issues. She, and her staff, have great attitudes and they do not let setbacks derail their mission.”

There are so many school foodservice employees worthy of hero-status – we salute their hard work each and every day!
