As Plant Manager of Cambro’s Injection products, Lawrence Clayton, a 23-year Cambro veteran has been responsible for a lot of Cambro products. Lawrence’s long-tenure is not out of the ordinary at Cambro.
Continuing our in-depth look at the team members that make up your Cambro team, we connected with Lawrence and he shared some work and personal insights with us.
Lawrence, you’ve worked at Cambro an impressive 23 years. What has kept you at Cambro for so long?
Cambro has been a great opportunity to grow for me. I really enjoyed all the people I’ve worked with. Simply put, I really just found my place.
What do you like best about working at Cambro?
It’s been fun watching Cambro continue to grow. To invest in new products. So many changes over the years. We never stop growing – we always look for new opportunities.
What does teamwork mean to you?
At the core, it’s a group of people coming together… to achieve a common goal. So many are needed to play their parts correctly to get the desired results for Cambro and our customers.
How do teams at Cambro impact your work?
In manufacturing we frequently get together and share best practices and ideas to really make us all better.
What’s the best advice you’ve received?
Be honest.
What would surprise someone about your job?
How many things we need to manage to make a product come together – how much work it takes to make even the smallest tumbler.
Name one thing about Cambro you wish more people knew.
Manufacturing is complex – the number of changes, adjustments and little pieces that need to come together to make that final product come together. It’s hard to convey that to someone – you really need to take it all in.
Favorite food?
I love to eat. Period.
When you’re at restaurants, do you look for Cambro products in use?
I use to. I use to do it for years. In the beginning I was picking up tumblers. Now I’ve just come to expect it wherever I go.
If you weren’t doing your current job, what else would you be doing?
It would probably be something to do with teaching. On the job, I’m always teaching. In teaching mode.. I help people learn how to do things, I don’t do it for them.
