While school foodservice operators continue to provide quality meals at an average cost of $2.58 per meal, offering healthier food choices to meet the USDA guidelines and the capital costs for equipment can be a quite substantial.
Fortunately there are several organizations that can assist with grants to provide schools with much-needed equipment, including salad bars. In the last 3 years, “Let’s Move Salad Bars to Schools” has placed over 2,800 salad bars in U.S. schools and served over 1.4 million kids.
