Lone Wolf Craft Cocktail Bar was born in November 2023 and acquired its name from its unique position—standing solo on Foxhall Avenue, surrounded by residential homes. This bold venture comes from the powerhouse duo, Lisa Dy and Anton Kinloch, creators of the renowned Fuchsia Tiki Bar in New Paltz, NY. Originally planning to open Fuchsia 2.0 within the same city, they pivoted after a year of searching, deciding on Kingston for an entirely fresh concept.
The bar and kitchen at Lone Wolf are helmed by Kinloch, a CIA-trained chef and former sommelier, while Dy crafts the atmosphere and handles HR. In the competitive world of bars and nightclubs, Kinloch explains what makes Lone Wolf stand out from the pack.
What inspired you to get into foodservice?
“When I was 14, I fell in love with the workings of restaurants. I didn’t realize that 23 years later I’d own my own place and work side-by-side with some amazing people.”
What do you love about your business?
“Aside from putting out dumpster fires daily, the opportunity to make someone’s day better is always something that drives me. To be able to say, ‘We built this in two months from the ground up and are crushing it,’ is a monumental feeling.”
What's the most interesting thing to happen to your business?
“The most interesting thing to happen to my business was discovering the history of the building. We learned there was a botched mob hit inside our four walls back in the day.”
What has been the biggest business challenge you have overcome?
“Ego; learning to give my team the autonomy to learn, grow and build. Every single day I realize this venue isn’t just me, it’s all of us.”
