Cambro Business of the Week: Flavor Savor BBQ

Cambro Blog - FlavorSavorBBQ logoThey say you can’t put lipstick on a pig… but you can put a mustache on it. And when you pair up a mustached-pig logo with some very well-reviewed BBQ, you get Flavor Savor BBQ.

Flavor Savor BBQ truck is based out of Grottoes, Virginia and served Harrisonburg, Rockingham and Augusta counties. Being mobile is what Daniel Chapman, owner, loves best about the business.

We’re a mobile food unit. So being able to travel to new venues several times a week is great. We can be at a brewery or winery one day, and we’ll be at a rock concert the next.

And with their bright orange truck, Flavor Savor is certainly a stand-out at any winery or any rock concert.

Cambro Blog - FlavorSavorBBQ1Flavor Savor BBQ provides slow cooked southern-style BBQ cooked over wood and charcoal. The lack of great barbeque in his area inspired Daniel to get into the business: “No one was making barbeque with love and passion.”

And it seems the Flavor Savor really is in demand in Virginia, as noted by their TV appearance preparing a beef brisket recipe. Click here for video.

As with most small businesses the biggest initial challenges were starting up.

It’s hard to get started and there are a lot of things we would like to have for our small business. But we pay cash for everything and sometimes it’s frustrating when the cash is just not there.

Flavor Savor BBQ also has a not-so-secret weapon in its arsenal:

The heated Cambro box is a Godsend! Without the heated Cambro box and its low power draw, I’m really not sure what we’d do.
