We head to Kansas City for this week’s Cambro Featured FoodService Business to meet Lon Lane’s Inspired Occasions. Owner and chef, Lon Lane, was inspired to get into foodservice by the “passion and the gift of hospitality.” And what Lon loves the most about the business is “the joy others receive by my work.”
The passion must be very evident in the food and customer experiences – Lon Lane was selected as the 2011 ACE (Achievement in Catering Excellence) Award winner from Catersource. Any of you familiar with Catersource, you know it’s a competitive bunch too!
Biggest challenge to date: Cooking for 3,750 people for the opening of our Union Station ….three parties running concurrently…..Major Donor 5 course plated 5 star dinner, Hors ‘d Oeuvres for 1,750 and food stations for 3,750 all at the same time.
And of course being a caterer, Lon uses Cambro products: Cambro insulated boxes….we have mastered the art of cambro cooking….most of our venues have not kitchen so we have perfected cooking, transporting and serving proteins at medium rare to rare at temp….could not live without them.
As the featured foodservice business of the week, Lane will receive a storage container gift pack and be entered into the monthly $500 in Cambro products contest.
