More Than 1,500 Homeless Fed at Vatican on World Day of the Poor

On the second World Day of the Poor in Rome, Italy, more than 1,500 homeless people were invited to have lunch at the Paul VI Hall in the Vatican. The day was observed on Sunday, Nov. 18, and featured a special mass at St. Peter’s Basilica in the morning. World Day of the Poor began in 2017 at the request of Pope Francis.

When Pope Francis arrived at the hall, he greeted the chefs sent from the Hilton hotel, according to Rome Reports. These chefs helped prepare and cook the meal that would feed the Vatican’s more than 1,500 homeless visitors.
