Making Life Sweeter, One Macaron at a Time: The Macaron Shop SD

Sweet Beginnings

San Diego’s sweet tooth has a delightful secret, and it’s all thanks to Juliana Lopez, owner of The Macaron Shop SD. “Working with my fiancé in his catering business inspired me to want to start my own,” Juliana shares. “I enjoyed being part of people’s special events and getting good feedback about how much they enjoyed something I made.” Driven by passion and encouragement, she decided to establish her own bakery specializing in beautifully crafted macarons.

Customized Creations

What sets The Macaron Shop SD apart is Juliana’s dedication to personalized creations. “I create very custom, personalized work tailored to each person’s special event and theme,” she explains. Each macaron is not only delicious but also custom-designed to fit specific events and themes, making each treat unique and special. “I get to be part of someone’s special life moment, and that’s very rewarding for me. In addition to this, I get to create a very delicious treat that makes people happy even if it’s only for a few seconds when they bite into my macaron.”

Memorable Moments

Among the standout experiences of running her business, Juliana recalls, “For me, the coolest thing that has happened in my business is when I got to make custom treats for large companies. It was super cool when Meta and the San Diego Wave women’s soccer team reached out to me to make something for them.” These prestigious collaborations underscore her talent and the trust her customers place in her creative vision.

Rising to the Challenge

Transitioning from a home-based cottage bakery to producing macarons in large quantities was no easy feat. “I was struggling baking large quantities at home. I tested out many large commercial ovens, and my macarons were not coming out. I started to lose hope until another local baker that was baking on a large scale showed me how he did it and what oven he was using.” Thanks to that advice, today she efficiently bakes macarons in batches of 16 dozen at a time.

Chillin' with Cambro

Essential to her operation are Cambro GoBoxes with extenders, which Juliana describes as “life savers.” “They keep my product not only safe, which is so important, but at the right temperature, which helps them not melt,” she says. “I use them for all my transportation needs, deliveries, and when I work large events. These Cambro GoBoxes are an essential tool in my day-to-day operation.”

The Macaron Shop SD continues to sweeten San Diego events with creativity, passion, and an unwavering commitment to quality.
